Daniil Kvyat gave the team a second point-scoring finish in two races, finishing 10th in the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix, also held at Austria’s Red Bull Ring. Pierre Gasly scored the team’s first points in the first race, finishing seventh. However, the Covid-19 pandemic changed plans, and the car’s first race was the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix on 5 July 2020.

The name AlphaTauri was announced on 1 December 2019, the day of the final race for the Toro Rosso name to date.ĪlphaTauri’s first car, the AT01, was set to debut in March 2020, during the 2020 Australian Grand Prix. The claims were confirmed by Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko. The Faenza-based team announced that it was set to become Red Bull’s sister team, instead of the junior squad to the main team.

Toro Rosso had been a household name in Formula 1 since entering the series in 2006 and had won a race (the 2008 Italian Grand Prix) and finished on the podium twice in its final season under the old name, in 2019.
